Places to Visit

Haldon forest – 2 miles – Includes cycle trails, walks and play areas for all ages. There is also the fabulous Go Ape  – great for thrill-seekers and family adventurers with hilltop to hilltop zip wires and daring high-level crossings with the most spectacular views.  

Exeter City Centre and Cathedral  – 5 miles – Exeter is one of the most vibrant, attractive and historically interesting cities in England. Pre-dating the arrival of the Romans in AD 50, Exeter’s history is rich and long. There are plenty of wonderful places to eat and drink, lots of lovely shop and visitor attractions including the unique underground passages and magnificent Cathedral.

Dartmoor National park – 15 miles– Get in touch with your wild side – 368 square miles of rugged, beautiful scenery – the largest and wildest area of open country in southern England. There are loads of wonderful walks to explore and plenty of spots to try a little wild swimming if you are brave enough. Fabulous old pubs, The Rugglestone, The Rock at Haytor and Ullercombe Farm Shop to name but a few, all worth a visit.

Dawlish Warren Beach – 5 miles – With its one and a half mile long sandy beach, sheltered sand dunes, award-winning clean waters, amusements for all, and an internationally protected National Nature Reserve it is definitely worth a visit.  

Exe Estuary trails -3 miles – A 16 mile, mainly flat cycle and walkway which runs around the entire Exe Estuary linking Exmouth, Exeter and Dawlish Warren, with fantastic views along the River Exe and great places such as the Turf locks and Double locks to eat and drink along the way.

Powderham Castle  – 3 miles –  The Castle is in a unique, picturesque setting within an ancient deer park beside the Exe estuary. Over 600 years of history can be discovered within the walls of one of Devon’s oldest family homes. Enjoy a Devon cream tea in the grounds, sample some of Devon’s best produce from the farm shop or simply go for a walk along the deer park.

Kenton Park Estate vineyard– 2 miles – Kenton Park Estate is a family owned boutique Vineyard situated in a stunning location along the South West Coast of England close to Devon’s beautiful Exe Estuary, nestling in the gentle foothills of Haldon Forest. Enjoy an afternoon wine, gin or whiskey tasting followed by a fabulous lunch in the vineyard kitchen. (please check seasonal openings)
